Life’s For the Living… – June 2025
Sinners (2025) is such a great movie! I planned trips to watch it in both May and June just to relive the multigeneration dance scene, and later the juxtaposition of the various scenes with Pearline singing.

There is a subtle tertiary message in it, too, and I have been reminding myself of that a few times recently.

These past few months have been a reminder of a lesson that I seem to constantly need reminding of: You can not force others to listen, to understand, to do the right thing, or to become a good person. You will tire and become stressed long before accomplishing that goal.

As it relates to the movie: No chance you can unmake a vampire, or quickly undo the racial tensions despite law changes or acquired wealth.

I tend to surround myself with compassionate, optimistic, ambitious, solution-oriented, and forward-thinking people. My friends and family all meet this mould, but this can also lead to a blindness when dealing with people who aren’t wired similarly, or have malicious intentions.

I occasionally will fight back and try to enforce change by pressure/debate, when I should just let go.
When you let go, however, good things happen, and you find yourself surrounded by the right type of people.

I also recently acquired a beautiful collection of oracle/motivational prompt cards (6 decks!) that I’ve incorporated into daily meditation and journalling.
Toronto Island is also very beautiful this time of year. The future is looking bright!
