 am a Caribbean chartered director with extensive experience in tech, governance, and research. I’ve served on numerous committees and boards, and I am actively engaged in volunteer work. I lead as the Executive Director at a foundation dedicated to expanding and supporting educational opportunities.

Extensive experience on over 20 boards and committees in corporate, government, non-profit and academic institutions. Jevi has been awarded two leadership awards.

Community

Over 15 years of experience as an effective advocate for women’s causes, tech for ageing populations, the environment, STEAM education for children, the arts, food security, and wellness. Jevi has also organised speaker series and aided in the development of conferences.

Research & Academia

In June 2020, Jevi coined the term hypervolition and defined the Jevinian Orders and Phases. This research in algorithmic influence and governance was developed in her Masters, and continued in the doctoral studies.

City of Toronto Community Advisory Committee (CAC) for Ramsden Park Community Recreation Centre (CRC)

Jevi has been selected by the City of Toronto, to serve on the Community Advisory Committee (CAC) for Ramsden Park Community Recreation Centre (CRC).

The Community Advisory Committee is an important part of how Toronto works with the community. CAC members come together at key moments during the design process to help drive the project forward providing input and advice that will help shape the design of the new community recreation centre in meaningful ways and make sure it reflects the needs and perspectives of the surrounding community.

Jevi is a theorist, chartered director, researcher, web developer, and experimental interdisciplinary artist. Her theoretical and research-creation practice explores our individual and societal relationships with technology; privacy; governance; immersion; and speculative fiction. She uses art-based research as a method to investigate and share her findings, and coined the term hypervolition as part of her research. 

Jevi obtained an MFA in Digital Futures from OCADU, and a Business Informatics BASc at McMaster University. Business Informatics is a specialised honors program focused on the combined core components of Business and Computer Science. Hailing from a family of scribophiles, she is fond of poetry. She graduated from the GBC School of Design. She later earned a professional certificate in Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Jevi’s multidisciplinary studies has led to careers as a software programmer, business intelligence analyst, IT security analyst, and web and graphic designer. Jevi is currently a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) candidate continuing her research on algorithmic influence.

 
As a community leader, Jevi has a passion for creating positive change. Within her roles, she has initiated and led successful projects that have made a real difference. With over 15 years of experience working in community development, outreach and governance, Jevi has developed a reputation as a dedicated and effective advocate for women causes, tech for ageing populations, the environment, STEAM education for children, the arts, food security, and wellness. Jevi served on various boards and committees as chair. She also served as a member of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada’s Programs Committee. Her commitment to social justice and equity is evident in her work, and she has received numerous awards for her contributions.
