Family, Greenery & Stewardship – May 2025
May has been a month of outdoors! Spending time with the dogs on trails, admiring floral indoor art, and volunteering in the plant nurseries, and stewardship programs.
On the 13th, our group planted sorrel and rice, and made pesto from non-native garlic mustard plants we harvested from the surrounding land we’re tasked to protect. Garlic mustard is non-native, and is a challenge to native biodiversity.
Our recipe included garlic mustard, stinging nettle, walnuts, lemons, cheese, oil and salt, and it was marvellous!
Best of all, my dad travelled for a visit and met The Bytes.
I’ve also started learning Akan.
